1. Overview

Vibrolo LLC (“Vibrolo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) owns and operates Agate, including the website and browser-based tools available at agateide.com (together, the “Service”).

The short version

  • Agate does not require an account.
  • Project drafts, recovery copies, preferences, and color palettes are stored in your browser on your device.
  • Agate’s application code does not set or read cookies and does not include advertising trackers. We use GoatCounter for cookie-free page-view statistics.
  • A hosting provider may process ordinary web-request data needed to deliver and protect the Service.

2. Scope

This policy applies when you visit or use the Service or communicate with Vibrolo about Agate. It does not apply to websites you create, links you choose to follow, or third-party services that have their own privacy practices.

3. Information we handle

Work stored on your device

Agate uses browser local storage to save project titles, page names and paths, HTML, CSS, revision and recovery information, selected pages and panels, preview preferences, and color names and values. This information stays in the browser profile on the device where you created it. The current Service does not send project or palette contents to Vibrolo. Agate may keep current, previous, recovery, invalid, and legacy records so work is not silently lost.

Agate does not encrypt browser storage. Do not place passwords, API keys, authentication tokens, or other secrets in project source. Other software or scripts that gain access to the same browser origin may be able to read device-local records.

Files, downloads, and clipboard actions

When you open an Agate project file, your browser reads the file on your device so the Service can validate and display it. When you copy or download work, your browser performs that action locally. Agate does not upload imported files or downloaded content to Vibrolo.

The contact form shown in the resource library is a non-submitting code example. Its preview cannot send a name, email address, message, or other form value. Do not enter real personal information into examples.

Standard web-request data

Like nearly every website, Agate’s hosting infrastructure may process technical data needed to deliver and secure pages. This may include your Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, requested page and query string, referring page, date and time, response status, and security or diagnostic events. Vibrolo does not use this data to build advertising profiles or track you across unrelated services.

Resource searching and filtering happens in your browser, but the search term and category may appear in the page address. If you reload or share that address, those values may be included in hosting logs or disclosed to the recipient of the link.

Page-view statistics

We use GoatCounter to understand which public Agate pages people visit. Our integration sends the public page path and title, the referring site's origin when available, and screen width. It excludes URL query strings, fragments, resource search terms, project source, project titles, palette contents, and form values. Missing pages are grouped under one generic path. Local development and embedded previews are excluded.

GoatCounter also processes ordinary request information, including IP addresses and browser headers, to derive statistics such as browser, operating system, language, approximate location, and repeat visits. Its privacy policy explains aggregation, temporary session processing, and storage.

Communications

If you contact Vibrolo, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, and related correspondence. Please do not send confidential project source or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.

4. How we use information

Vibrolo may use information it receives to:

  • provide, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the Service;
  • understand public page usage and improve the Service;
  • respond to questions, requests, or legal inquiries;
  • review hosting security or diagnostic events and prevent abuse;
  • comply with law and protect users, Vibrolo, and others; and
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

5. Cookies and tracking signals

Agate’s application code does not set or read cookies and does not use advertising pixels or cross-site advertising trackers. GoatCounter counts page views without visitor cookies. Browser local storage supports the device-local functionality described above and an optional GoatCounter opt-out preference. Hosting infrastructure may use strictly necessary cookies or similar mechanisms to deliver or secure the Service; Vibrolo does not use them for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Agate does not load GoatCounter when your browser sends an enabled “Do Not Track” signal or Global Privacy Control signal. You can also block GoatCounter with your browser or content blocker. These choices do not affect the editor or other Agate tools.

The current Service does not include third-party runtime code that collects personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites. Hosting providers may still process the standard request data described above to deliver and secure Agate; Vibrolo does not authorize that data for cross-site advertising.

6. When information is disclosed

Vibrolo may disclose information it receives:

  • to hosting, analytics, security, and other service providers that process it to provide services to Vibrolo;
  • when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request, or to protect rights, safety, and security;
  • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of the business; or
  • when you direct us to or otherwise consent.

Vibrolo does not sell personal information. Vibrolo does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not disclose device-local project or palette content because the current Service does not receive that content.

7. Retention

Device-local information may include current, previous, recovery, invalid, and legacy records. Resetting or replacing a project does not necessarily delete those records. They can remain in the browser profile until overwritten, evicted by the browser, or removed through your browser’s site-data controls. Vibrolo’s retention of hosting, analytics, and communication data depends on its purpose, sensitivity, provider settings, legal requirements, and security or dispute-resolution needs.

8. Security

Agate limits data movement by keeping project work on your device and restricting the browser preview. Those technical measures reduce but do not eliminate risk. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your device, browser profile, and backups of important work.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

You can download or copy work from Agate at any time. You can remove device-local Agate data through your browser’s site-data controls. Clearing that data may permanently remove drafts, recovery copies, preferences, and palettes from that browser profile, so export anything you want to keep first.

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information Vibrolo holds about you, and to appeal a denied request. You may also have rights to limit or object to certain processing and to receive equal service when exercising a privacy right. Vibrolo may need to verify your request and may retain information when permitted or required by law.

To make a privacy request, email contact@vibrolo.com with the subject “Privacy request.” Because project and palette content stays on your device, Vibrolo generally cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete that content for you.

10. Children

Agate is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Vibrolo does not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Children under 13 should use Agate only under a parent or guardian’s direct supervision and should not contact Vibrolo or provide personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Vibrolo, contact us so we can review and delete it when required. A parent, guardian, school, or other organization that makes Agate available to a child should provide appropriate supervision. Nothing in this section limits Vibrolo’s own obligations under applicable law.

11. International visitors

Standard request, analytics, or communication data may be processed in places where Vibrolo and its service providers operate. If those places are outside your country, their data-protection laws may differ from the laws where you live.

12. Changes to this policy

Vibrolo may update this policy as the Service or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective or last-updated date. If a change materially affects how we use information already received, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
